Lietavská Lúčka: Hotels, Local History and Hiking Events

Lietavská Lúčka is located in the Žilina Basin on terraced alluvial deposits of the Rajčianka River. The locality can be viewed from several perspectives: different historical and contemporary layers become visible in its buildings and scheduled events.

History

In the Middle Ages, Lietavská Lúčka belonged to the Lietava estate. Traditional livelihoods included agriculture, sheep farming and beekeeping. Another chapter in the locality’s history began in 1901, when a cement plant was built in Lietavská Lúčka.

Buildings

The Chapel of St. Joseph, built in 1920, has a round shape and is made entirely of concrete. A wooden statue of Saint Joseph stands in a niche above the altar. The Chapel of St. Joseph stands on the hillside above Lietavská Lúčka near the cemetery.

The Neoclassical Lietavská Lúčka Manor House dates from 1820. It has a columned portico extending across the entire height of the building, with four Ionic columns. The monument to the Slovak National Uprising and the victims of war is also part of the architectural and historical setting. It stands in a park beside the road from Žilina to Rajecké Teplice. The monument has a central pylon bearing the names of those who fell in the Second World War.

Hiking and Events

For 2026, a weather-dependent ski touring and hiking route from Lietavská Lúčka via Turie and Višňové and back to Lietavská Lúčka is scheduled. In the vicinity of Lietavská Lúčka, the 48th New Year’s gathering is scheduled to take place at Lietavský hrad on January 1, 2026. The opening of the spring hiking season is also scheduled to take place there on April 11, 2026.

On April 25, 2026, the 48th memorial ascent of Štefan Jurecký to Žibrid is scheduled to take place in the vicinity of Lietavská Lúčka. As early as 2003, the 24-kilometre public hike “Cez tri hrady” via Hričovský hrad, Súľovský hrad and Lietavský hrad castles was included in the KST Lietavská Lúčka tourism programme.
