Lazisko – Hotels, Nature and History

Lazisko can be explored through its natural surroundings, local history, and specifically named paths and routes. Nature

Lazisko lies in the protection zone of the “Národný park Nízkych Tatier” National Park. Situated in the southern part of the Liptovská kotlina basin, the village extends along the right bank of the Paludžanka River. The protected area, basin setting, and riverbank are thus connected as distinct geographical features, without losing their respective significance.

Culture

The oldest written mention of Lazisko dates back to 1396. The village also has a historically significant bell tower with a bell from 1930. The Lazisko bell tower stands in its original location directly next to the municipal office. The year, structure, and location refer to different aspects of the village’s history: its first written mention, a specific historic object, and its unchanged position within the village layout.

Tourist paths lead from Lazisko to Hradisko, where remains of the Púchov culture have been preserved. The southern edge of Lazisko was used by subjects from Črmnô as kopanice settlements. Both references expand the historical picture with archaeological traces and the former use of a specific peripheral area. They remain closely connected to the places and names mentioned.

A present-day tradition is represented by the central Maypole of Lazisko, which is dedicated to all the girls and women of the municipality. The Maypoles are erected at Pentecost. The cultural diversity also includes the wooden articulated evangelical church, which is one of the largest wooden structures in Central Europe.

Activities

One of the scenic tourist routes in Lazisko is the ascent to Siná. For cyclists, the “Around Liptovska Mara” cycling route passes through Lazisko. It is a 58 km mountain biking loop, suitable mainly for mountain bikes and e-bikes.

Cross-country skiing is also represented by a specifically named route. The Lazisko–Pavčina Lehota–Žiarce circuit is a cross-country ski trail. It runs through meadows with beautiful views above Lazisko.
