Mútne lies on the broad, flat ridges of the Podbeskydská brázda. The Pilsko National Nature Reserve extends into the cadastral area of Mútne and covers 266 ha.

Nature

The Pilsko National Nature Reserve protects natural spruce-fir virgin forests and alpine flysch meadows. The Pilsko National Nature Reserve is also an important source area for the Orava, with numerous springs feeding tributaries of the Mútňanka. Thus, the designated natural area includes both protected forest and meadow stands and springs connected to the river systems of the Orava and the Mútňanka.

The Spálený grúnik protected area safeguards important, well-preserved peat bog plant communities in waterlogged spruce forests, containing rare and endangered species of Slovak flora. The protected plant communities and their setting within the waterlogged spruce forests together form the distinct natural feature of this protected area.

Landscape and Waterways

The northwestern part of Mútne is predominantly forested. In addition to this extensive landscape feature, a specific stream is also named: the Mútnik stream flows into the Veselovský stream. Thus, the forested side of the village and the waterway connection stand alongside each other as clearly distinct features.

Culture

The Church of St. Mary Magdalene is a three-nave, Neo-Romanesque building dating from 1875 to 1878 and is registered in Mútne as a national cultural monument under registration number ÚZPF 232/1.

The Rowlandov kameň is one of Mútne's monuments and dates from 1862. Here too, the name, its status as one of Mútne's monuments, and the year are directly connected.

Mútne's cultural heritage also includes the Mútňan folklore ensemble. It performs predominantly Goral songs, accompanied by a heligónka. At its performances, the Mútňan folklore ensemble demonstrates flax weaving and spinning, the making of brooms from willow branches, and the production of wooden shingles, as well as traditional customs during Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and harvest festivals. Musical performance, craft demonstrations, and the customs mentioned above all appear together as part of its performances.

Also pay attention to the services included and the components that make up the total price. In addition, read the booking and cancellation conditions in the specific version of the offer. If you look at several offers, you can check the same fields one after another and identify differences in location, type, occupancy, services, prices, and conditions more clearly. This keeps the comparison focused on the information for each individual offer and prevents general characteristics of the location from being mixed with the characteristics of a particular accommodation. For a budget-conscious decision, it is worth considering the total amount rather than just the base price: check whether additional costs are listed separately, what occupancy is assumed, and whether the conditions for changes or cancellation are clearly stated. The specific offer page remains decisive in each case.
