Hruštín: Hotels, Culture and Trails
Hruštín is home to the masonry Church of St. John the Baptist, built in 1820. The spacious, single-nave Classical building has a partially projecting tower crowned with an onion dome.
Culture
The village’s sacred architecture also includes the Chapel of St. Anne. It was built in the Classical style in 1800 and has been preserved in its original form. On the road to Črchle, the chapel has four columns as well as stone sculptures of St. Anne and the Apostles Peter and Paul. Another historic landmark stands on the road to Babín, beyond the bridge: the stone cross of St. John the Baptist was erected in 1833 and bears a relief of St. John the Baptist.
Hiking
The Lomná–Krušetnica–Hruštín educational trail is 42 km long and connects Hruštín, Lomná and Krušetnica. The section of this educational trail in Hruštín is 16.2 km long. The route is therefore described both as a connection between three villages and as a clearly designated section within Hruštín.
An educational trail also leads through the nearby area from Koliba u Kuba to the summit of Vasiľovská hoľa. The trail to Vasiľovská hoľa overcomes just over 200 metres of elevation gain and provides information about the local fauna, flora and habitats of the area. The route, elevation difference and nature-related themes are all part of one continuous trail.
Cycling
The route of the “Cyklotúra piatimi hoľami” led over Hruštínska hoľa, Bzinská hoľa, Vasiľovská hoľa, Kubínska hoľa and Lihoťanská hoľa. The event reached its 15th edition. The third edition of the “Rodinná bicygľovačka” had its own, shorter format: it offered parents with children and recreational cyclists a shorter, less demanding route.
Winter
In the 2026 edition of “Prechod piatimi hoľami”, the prepared route led over Hruštínska hoľa and Bzinská hoľa to the summit of Vasiľovská hoľa. On 14 February 2026, the 46th edition of the winter ski excursion “Prechod piatimi hoľami” took place in Hruštín.
The family-friendly SKI ZÁBAVA Hruštín ski resort is located 7 km from Hruštín on the northern side of Oravská Magura, at an elevation of 900 to 1,150 m. The nearby ski resort has five easy to intermediate ski runs with a total length of 4.8 km, as well as three drag lifts. The offering mentioned there also includes a rental and service facility, a children’s ski school and a ski instructor.
