Liesek: Culture, Nature and Cycling Route in Horná Orava
Liesek deserves a closer look because cultural heritage, connections with nature and seasonal activities come together here to create a multifaceted image of the village.
Culture and History
The cultural side of Liesek includes the FS Skorušina folklore ensemble. It was founded in Liesek in December 1988 and specialises in Goral folklore from Hladovka and Suchá Hora. FS Skorušina and FS Oravský Spiežovec performed in the programme, presenting folk dances and folk songs. Alongside the history of the association, this also represents concrete forms of regional tradition: dance and singing were brought to the stage together.
Another cultural point of reference is the “Pohľad do minulosti Liesku” exhibition, which opened in 2016. The Church of St Michael the Archangel, Kostol sv. Michala archanjela, is also one of the notable historical traces. It was extended between 1996 and 1998 and combines Baroque elements with modern functionalism. The church’s original side altars also came from Červený Kláštor. Different periods and influences can therefore be read in a single building.
Nature
The northern part of Liesek’s cadastral area lies within the Horná Orava Protected Landscape Area. Liesek’s cadastral area also belongs to the Horná Orava Natura 2000 site. Both references describe the landscape from different legal and spatial perspectives: on the one hand, a northern part is expressly assigned to the Protected Landscape Area; on the other, the cadastral area belongs to the Natura 2000 site.
Cycling and Winter
The cycling route from Trstená via Liesek and Suchá Hora to Nowy Targ in Poland passes through Liesek. The route has several rest areas with benches and seating. As part of the Cesta okolo Tatier project, guardrails were installed along the cycle path in the Liesek area. Thus, the described route includes not only the named places and their connection, but also specific facilities along the way and the guardrails in the Liesek area.
In winter, the cycling route through Liesek is used for cross-country skiing. The same path therefore appears in the verified details about the village as having an additional seasonal use, without requiring an additional route to be named.
Compare Hotels and Accommodation
When reviewing offers for Liesek, you can compare several points directly on the respective offer pages. First, pay attention to the exact location, the stated type of accommodation and the occupancy so that the selection remains transparent. The included services and all price components should likewise be clearly identifiable. Also check the booking and cancellation conditions, as well as any possible time restrictions. This keeps the decision focused on the conditions actually stated. For occupancy, the number of people specified for the selected period is decisive; for services and prices, it should be clear whether they are already included or listed separately. Time restrictions also deserve attention before the conditions are compared with one another.
