Culture

In the center of Dobrá stands a building constructed in 1930, which houses the local museum. It features a traditional village living room with a bed, wardrobe, table, and dishes. A special item is the remarkable wooden chest LÁDA: it is about 200 years old and hand-hewn.

The Greek Catholic Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Dobrá is part of the local religious architecture. It is a Neoclassical church built in the 1790s and stands on a sand dune in the center of the village. Behind the iconostasis, its high altar features Rococo ornamentation and dates from the late 18th century.

History

The parish of Dobrá is considered the oldest parish in Medzibodrožie. The first written mention of the village dates from 1323, when it was called Dobrá. Dobrá is also considered an important archaeological site of the former Kingdom of Hungary.

Wine and Festivals

At the end of September or beginning of October, Mikuláš Fedor invites lovers of folk culture to the grape harvest. Visitors can pick, destem, and crush grapes, as well as press and taste them. Guests can enjoy Frankovka wines. The sandy soils of the gardens in Dobrá are considered well suited to growing grapes.

Once a year, Dobrá hosts an open-style goulash cooking festival. Competitions take place during the goulash festival. It is complemented by a varied cultural program featuring performances by various folklore ensembles.

Getting Around

A signposted cycling route through Medzibodrožie passes through Dobrá between Pribeník and Biel. The village is therefore also recorded as a named section of a regional cycling route.
