Neded – Churches, Nature and Local Cultural Life
Neded combines several clearly distinguishable examples of architectural history with a natural monument and a cultural centre that operates year-round for local cultural activities. Churches, Jahodnianske jazierka and cultural and sports venues represent different aspects of the town. Its historical arc extends from the second half of the 18th century through the interwar period to the post-war period.
Culture
The Church of Saint Michael the Archangel is a single-nave early Neoclassical building dating from 1780. Its furnishings include a Neoclassical side altar of the Virgin Mary from 1811. Thus, both the construction period and a later furnishing detail have been preserved in this church; its architecture and interior point to two different points in time.
The Catholic parish house in Neded was built in 1787. The two-storey late Baroque building adds another example from the same historical period to the town’s sacred architecture. Together with St. Michael’s Church, it provides another link to the architectural history of the late 18th century.
The Reformed Church was built in 1937 on the site of an older Toleration Church dating from 1784. The tower of the former church has been incorporated into the present building. Inside is a marble Neoclassical baptismal font from the period of the original church; the church also has a pulpit from the 19th century. This building therefore brings together the older church, the later new construction and several preserved furnishing elements.
Another ecclesiastical landmark is the modern Evangelical Church in Neded. It was built after the Second World War by settlers from Dolná zem. Thus, buildings from the late 18th century, the interwar period and the post-war period stand alongside one another in the town. The churches mentioned therefore illustrate different architectural forms, periods of construction and historical contexts.
Nature
The Jahodnianske jazierka natural monument is located in the cadastral area of Neded. Access begins on the main road between Palárikovo and Selice: at the canal bridge, a turn leads onto an asphalt farm road in the direction of the Váh.
For geographic orientation, three details therefore belong together: Neded as the cadastral area, the main road between Palárikovo and Selice, and the canal bridge as the turn onto the asphalt farm road in the direction of the Váh. The destination area and the route description nevertheless remain distinguishable as separate components of the location information.
Local Life
The cultural centre in Neded operates year-round for local cultural activities. At the sports centre, the facilities include tennis courts, nohejbal, volleyball, a fitness centre and table tennis. The local programme therefore ranges from cultural events to various recreational, training and team activities.
Events in Neded include wine tastings that help preserve local customs. EUROCAMP is an international cultural and sports activity. The two events have different focuses: the wine tastings are connected with local customs, while EUROCAMP brings culture and sport together in an international setting. Alongside the town’s permanent facilities, events of different kinds therefore also take place.
For accommodation in Neded, you can consider travel dates, room category and cancellation policies separately. Travel dates concern the time frame, the room category the selected type of room, and the cancellation policies the conditions of an offer. These three details can be used as separate points of comparison when planning a trip.
