Orechová Potôň Hotels: Malkia Park and SLOVAKIA RING

Orechová Potôň is home to the private Malkia Park zoological garden (Big Cats Rescue). It is also home to SLOVAKIA RING, with various driving activities, as well as the town’s Reformed and Catholic churches.

Nature and Wildlife

Malkia Park provides a home for more than 300 animals from 79 species and over 34 big cats across 9 hectares. The big cats include lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, lynxes, pumas and cheetahs. The facility therefore combines a large number of different animal species with a specifically stated group of big cats.

Motorsport

At SLOVAKIA RING, the public can drive on the race track during free AUTO driving sessions, using their own car or a rental car. Full track safety coverage is available for these sessions. In total, SLOVAKIA RING offers seven driving variants of different lengths.

The SLOVAKIA RING circuit driving school teaches the correct technique for sporty driving at higher speeds on a race track under the guidance of an instructor. The content includes seating position, steering-wheel handling and dealing with crisis situations.

SLOVAKIA RING meets the FIM and FIA criteria for hosting major international motorsport events. In addition to free driving sessions and the circuit driving school, the venue is therefore also associated with international motorsport.

Free bus service from Orechová Potôň railway station to SLOVAKIA RING is provided for selected train connections on Saturdays and Sundays.

Culture and History

The military museum at the SLOVAKIA RING race track’s off-road area presents a permanent exhibition of military-historical technology. On display are T34, T55 and T72 tanks, Tatra-813 and KRAZ-255 vehicles, howitzers, guns and cannons. The exhibition also includes armored personnel carriers, fighter aircraft and attack helicopters.

On the outskirts of Orechová Potôň, in the direction of Michal na Ostrove, there is a restored stone wayside cross dating from 1878. It bears the corpus of the crucified Christ, a statue of the Virgin Mary and an inscription plaque.

The Reformed Church of Orechová Potôň was completed in 1977 in the Scandinavian style on the site of the old church. Its history also includes the tower: the bell and the star date from 1800 and come from Bratislava.

The Catholic church in Orechová Potôň is named Queen of the Rosary and was consecrated in 1998. Its interior contains original paintings by Ottó Szabó.
