Trnávka – Chapel, Monuments and Cycle Route XI

There is a chapel in Trnávka whose history can be traced through several construction phases. It was built between 1848 and 1850 in the late Neoclassical style. In 1902, it was enlarged and supplemented with a tower; this was initiated by Antal Németh and his wife Julianna, née Tóth. Another chapel is located in the Trnávka cemetery. It was consecrated on 2 November 1937. Also in this cemetery, Antal Németh and his wife Karolina Csémy had a large cross erected in 1936.

Culture and history

Next to the church in Trnávka stands a monument to the fallen, erected in 1921 in memory of the victims of the First World War. In the 1960s, a list of those who fell in the Second World War was added to this monument. Another religious monument is located at the intersection between Báč, Rohovce and Trnávka: the statue of the Holy Trinity was erected there in 1863 and depicts Saint Emeric, Saint Florian and the Holy Trinity.

Festivals

The local festival calendar includes Trnávka’s church festival in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary. It is celebrated on 7 October; village festivities, known as Hody, take place on this day.

Cycling

Two named main routes pass through Trnávka. Main Route XI runs from Dobrohošť to Blahová through the village. It is flat and suitable for all types of bicycles. Main Route XII also passes through Trnávka, running from Holice to Oľdza.
