Povoda – History, Festivals and Hotels
Povoda combines a multifaceted local history with religious and sporting life.
History
The settlement is first documented in a document from 1260 under the name Poda Ety. In an entry from 1455, King Ladislav V. transferred the settlement to Poda-Ethelom. The Póda family owned the settlement until the end of the 18th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, a steam mill was built in Povoda; it remained in operation until the beginning of the 20th century.
Povoda was formed in 1940 through the merger of the local districts of Povoda, Čenkesfa and Lidértejed. The Slovak name Povoda has been in use since 1948. Thus, the local history includes both the early written name Poda Ety and the later, present-day Slovak form of the name.
Culture
Kostol sv. Jána Pavla II. is located in Povoda; the church is a filial church in Povoda. The local club scene includes the football club FK Povoda, which is active in the village. In 2007, FK Povoda won the championship of the 3rd class in the Dunajská Streda area.
Povoda is also known for breeding pedigree dogs.
Events
The Obecné dni have been regularly organized since 2000 as a two-day event in August. The Obecné dni include an extensive cultural program and musical performances. The Hodové slávnosti take place every year in April on the feast of Saint George.
The Žitnoostrovská výstava and the bonifikácia psov are regularly held in Povoda.
Landscape
Zöldfa was historically a marshy area crossed at a small canal via a wooden bridge. The former Zöldfa marshland was drained and is now built up. The name therefore refers to a landscape condition of the past, while the current use of the former marshland is different.
Transport and Cycling Project
Bus route 201 418 runs along the Dunajská Streda – Kútniky – Povoda route. For cycling, a municipal proposal envisages a new asphalt cycle path from the waterworks at the Gabčíkovo-Topoľníky canal to Povoda, along the canal’s existing left-bank embankment. The cycle path is therefore described as part of a municipal proposal.
First, the exact location and the specified type of accommodation are important. Occupancy and included services can then be compared. The individual price components should also be clearly identifiable so that the total amount does not have to be inferred solely from a basic price. Before completing the booking, it is worth checking the payment, booking and cancellation conditions, as well as any applicable deadlines. This keeps it transparent which services are actually included in the respective offer and which costs or conditions are listed separately.
