Culture and History

Lakšárska Nová Ves is home to several historic sacred buildings. The Baroque Church of St Lawrence was built in 1729–1730 and has been a protected cultural monument since 1968. A defensive wall with loopholes from the late 17th century stands around the Church of St Lawrence. It surrounded the first church at the site of the present sacred building. A Baroque chapel dedicated to St Simon and St Jude was built in the centre of Lakšárska Nová Ves in 1754.

Almost the entire cadastral area of Lakšárska Nová Ves lies within the CHKO Záhorie Protected Landscape Area. The NPR Červený rybník National Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of Lakšárska Nová Ves. It protects a swamp alder forest (Carici elongatae-Alnetum) and remnants of a peat meadow with plant communities of the Caricion fuscae alliance. The PR Zelienka Nature Reserve is also located in the cadastral area of Lakšárska Nová Ves. It is one of the last remaining inter-dune peatland areas. Lakšárska Nová Ves also has a 35,953 m² lake with a distinctive natural setting. The wetlands are subject to the highest, fifth level of protection; leaving the paths is prohibited there.

Trails and Experiences

The Závod–Senica long-distance hiking trail passes through Lakšárska Nová Ves. A blue-marked hiking trail leads along a forest path from Lakšárska Nová Ves to the Tomky recreation area. The educational trail from Lakšárska Nová Ves to the Tomky recreation area begins in Lakšárska Nová Ves within the CHKO Záhorie Protected Landscape Area. It passes by the NPR Červený rybník National Nature Reserve and gradually continues to the Tomky recreation area. Along the educational trail from Lakšárska Nová Ves to the Tomky recreation area, information boards explain selected plant, fungi and animal species. A map of the Záhorie Sever cycling route is installed at the main junction in the centre of Lakšárska Nová Ves. The so-called Kopaničiarska cycling route passes through Lakšárska Nová Ves.
