Žejno: Hiking Trails, Viewpoint and Hotels

In Žejno, specific connections between trails, landscapes and culture come together. At the Church of St. Vid, the Brežiška mountain trail reaches a viewpoint at an elevation of 386 metres.

The Brežiška mountain trail runs mainly along paths and cart tracks, partly along roads. One section leads from Šentviška gora to Sobenja vas and takes 45 minutes. Elsewhere, the route descends to Žejno along a forest path and then continues to Sobenje.

The “Brežiška mountain trail” offers views of the fields between Sobenje, Globočice, Mrzla vas and Žejno, as well as nearby vineyards.

Cycling

A cycling route also passes through the village: the moderately difficult Cvičkova pot starts at Gostilna Les and leads through Žejno.

Culture

The Ljudske pevke Žejno state that preserving folk songs and cultural heritage is their mission. At the “Napev – odsev 2024” event, they were announced to perform in support of the preservation of musical heritage. To mark their 20th anniversary, Ljudske pevke Žejno invited visitors to a concert.

Landscape and Nature

One of the named natural features is Jama na Grohotih. It is 62 metres long and 14 metres deep.

Villa Les in Žejno has a wine cellar, a bread oven and a hayrack. A specific parking arrangement is documented for reaching another trail: there are no designated public parking spaces at the starting point of the Bosonoga pot Lojzeta Ogorevca. However, on the day of the organised barefoot hiking event, the last Sunday in August, a parking area is available to hikers.
