Prekopa: Gasilska zbirka and Routes

Prekopa presents itself as a combination of culture and movement. A clearly defined cultural heritage stands alongside several routes with named places, trail types, and distances. The specific features range from historical equipment to clearly designated sections, connections, and references to local places.

Culture

The Gasilska zbirka, a collection of water pumps on wooden carts from the 19th century, is the main attraction. In May 2015, the Gasilska zbirka was moved to the fire station in Prekopa. The carefully restored exhibits give visitors an insight into this part of Slovenia’s technical heritage. The Gasilska zbirka in Prekopa can be visited by prior appointment. The collection thus combines a specific type of object with a clearly defined historical period and a permanent exhibition location. Its current presentation is also linked to a previous relocation; visiting is not described as spontaneous access that can be assumed at any time, but is subject to prior registration.

Routes

The three routes are each identified by their own name. The “Pot od cerkve do cerkve” route connects Vransko with Prekopa and Stopnik. Between Selo and Čreta, it includes a section on a mountain hiking trail. It is 27.8 km long and passes through Prekopa. A second route is called “V2 – Po poti vranske kulturne dediščine”. It is 14.9 km long and passes through Prekopa. Near Brode, it passes a hop field before reaching Prekopa.

Trasa 7 also passes through Prekopa. It is highly varied and suitable for somewhat more experienced runners. It is just over 12 km long. In Prekopa, Trasa 7 crosses the main road and passes an equestrian club before reaching a cycle path.

The routes use different forms of distance description side by side: a connection between several places, an individual trail section, and notable points along the way. The information about length and route complement each other rather than describing the same characteristic. This makes it clear which information belongs to each route and which place or trail designation merely marks a section within its description. The named points and trail types give each description its own structure, while the distances separately indicate the different extent of the routes.
