Forčići: Hotels and Accommodation
In Forčići stands Stol Ćirila i Metodija, the second monument on the route. It was unveiled in 1978 as a memorial to Cyril and Methodius. Its name is inscribed on the edge in Latin, Old Cyrillic and angular Glagolitic script.
Culture
The Aleja glagoljaša is a Glagolitic memorial complex built along the road from Roč to Hum. As a cultural and tourist landmark, it is 7 kilometres long and consists of 11 monuments. The Glagolitic lapidarium in Brnobići presents copies of significant Glagolitic monuments.
In the area around Forčići, the burial place of Žakan Jurij is a stone block shaped like a book, accompanied by seven smaller blocks resembling Glagolitic printing letters. The Sijelo Klimenta Ohridskog consists of a chair surrounded by eight stone seats beneath an oak tree and was unveiled in 1978. The Belvedere of Gregory of Nin is a stone block in the shape of a closed book, into which Glagolitic, Cyrillic and Latin scripts have been carved.
In the surrounding area, Hum preserves the characteristics of a medieval fortified settlement and a medieval urban layout. The Church of Saint Jerome in Hum contains valuable frescoes from the late 12th or early 13th century. Roč developed into a fortified settlement enclosed by walls, defensive towers and two gates, and in the 15th and 16th centuries it was a centre of Croatian writing culture, publishing and printing based on the Glagolitic script. The Klanac hrvatskog Lucidara is dedicated to the medieval Croatian Lucidarium; there, a dry-stone wall forms the shape of Učka, with a stone cloud above it.
Nature
In the area around Forčići, the Korita spring can be reached from Brgudac after a 45-minute walk through hornbeam and oak forest with protected plant and animal species. Korita has an equipped rest area overlooking the Učka mountain range.
As a protected rural settlement, Kotli preserves Kortas, Baladurs and a watermill. Two watermills have survived there in total, one of which has been partially restored. The Mirna River flows through Kotli in cascades.
On the Way
Forčići is a waypoint on the GPS track Pot Istrskega odreda (Slavnik-Žabnik). This GPS track also passes through Roč and includes Korita as one of its waypoints.
Culinary Highlights
An annual rakija show takes place in Hum at the end of October. At the Museum of Hum Aura, visitors can prepare a cream from plants that grow in the area, as well as taste biska and handwrite a label for the bottle.
In the wider regional area, Buzet is marketed as a truffle destination; the truffle areas are described as being in the forests along the Mirna Valley.
