Lindar: Hotels and Accommodations

Culture and History

Lindar has a documented Glagolitic heritage: several churches contain stone inscriptions, church frescoes feature Glagolitic graffiti, and the parish baptismal registers were written in Glagolitic from 1590 to 1667. During the restoration of the frescoes in the Church of St Catherine, additional fragments were uncovered on the wall of the chancel, including a scene depicting the Kiss of Judas.

The parish church of St Mohor and Fortunat was built in 1606 on the site of an older church. The parish of St Mohor and Fortunat in Lindar is already mentioned in historical records from 1379. The Church of St Sebastian was built in 1559 by Lindar resident Ivan Jedrejčić and features a bilingual, two-script inscription set into the façade. It also contains a small wooden altar with a Baroque altarpiece, as well as part of a wall painting depicting Saint Paul. The Church of St Martin preserves a Glagolitic funerary inscription from 1588 for the priest Matušić. The Church of St Martin in Lindar’s cemetery is a Romanesque building from the 14th century.

Nature and Cycling Route

Official cycling route 619 is a circular route from Pazin to Gračišće and back, passing the cemetery in Lindar. Agroturizam Ograde keeps horses, ducks, geese, chickens, pigeons, dogs and cats.
