Šípy is located on the western boundary of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area.

Nature and Landscape

The Šípský mlýn hamlet is located in the valley of the Šípský potok stream. In the vicinity of Šípy are Hradiště Hill [Chříč-Lhota], Ostrý vrch Hill [Slabce-Modřejovice], Stará Jedlina Hill [Slabce-Rousínov], and Krakov Hill. Velký kopec rises above Šípy to a height of 471 metres.

Culture and History

The historic farmstead in Šípy features a preserved Baroque barn. The statue of St. John of Nepomuk in the village square of Šípy is protected as a cultural monument.

Around 1350, a fortress and a church were built in Milíčov. Milíčov may have been founded as early as the end of the 13th century. The Church of St. Peter in Chains in Milíčov has been protected as a cultural monument since 3 May 1958.

In the wider regional surroundings of Šípy are the ruins of Týřov, the ruins of Pravda Castle, the Church of St. Peter, and the Church of St. Gothard.

Cycling

On the Rakovník Loop to Krakovec Castle, cyclists leave the cycle route in the neighbouring municipality of Šípy and continue along the road to Řeřichy.
