Kroučová lies on the Džbán upland, directly on the watershed of several watercourses that rise in its immediate vicinity. The village is also situated in the deep forests of the “Džbán Nature Park.”

Nature and Landscape

The “Pochvalovská stráň” Nature Reserve protects natural communities on marl outcrops with populations of bearberry and alpine buckthorn, as well as natural thermophilous shrubs, thermophilous oak forests, and ravine forests. Along its northern edge run a red-marked hiking trail from Rakovník via Smilovice and Dřevíč to Louny, and a green-marked hiking trail from Pnětluky to Žerotín. The “Knížecí studánka” spring is located in the cadastral territory of Kroučová.

Hiking and Trails

The “Kroučová Coal Trail” is a 5 km circular route that begins and ends on the village green. It has eight stops with information boards and provides information about the nature, history, and sights of Kroučová and its surroundings. The blue-marked hiking route connects with a red route from Rakovník to Louny.

Culture and History

The “Church of St. Margaret” was built from marlstone from the Džbán; its altar faces west. The “First Hop-Growers’ Association in the Kingdom of Bohemia” was founded in Kroučová in 1891 by hop growers.
