Čáslav: urban layout, museums and destinations in the surrounding area

The Church of St. Peter and Paul combines several construction phases. It includes a predecessor church built in the mid-12th century and dedicated to St. Michael. The Early Gothic presbytery was added in the 13th century, followed by the Gothic three-nave body of the church in the 14th century. The church also includes a chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows. In 1421, the Čáslav Landtag was held in St. Peter and Paul.

The preserved Otakarova bašta remains from the former Brodská or Jeníkovská gatehouse. The cylindrical tower is 22 meters high. It was rebuilt in the pseudo-Gothic style in 1883; the bašta has been preserved in this form to this day.

The Žižkova síň houses an exhibition commemorating Jan Žižka of Trocnov and the history of the Hussite movement. Elisabeth has been protected as a cultural monument since May 3, 1958, and bears the register number ÚSKP 22699/2-922. Svatý Jiří is a church in the wider regional surroundings of Čáslav.

The town's history outside the medieval core is also part of its character. After the devastating town fire of 1522, a new hospital and a church with a cemetery were built in the suburban area.

NZM Čáslav focuses on the history of industrially manufactured series of tractors, combine harvesters and plows. The modern exhibition presents agricultural machinery; there are also partially accessible storage facilities. These also contain rare prototypes that never went into series production. The museum visit therefore focuses jointly on technological development, specific machines and their construction history.

Městské muzeum Čáslav is one of the oldest rural museums in the Czech Republic. It is located in a building constructed in 1884 in the Neo-Renaissance style. The museum site thus combines the exhibits with its own architectural connection to the town's history.

A cycle path runs through the grounds of NZM Čáslav; there is also a traffic training area, a pump track and a workout zone. The various facilities shape the area alongside the museum exhibition and supplement its use with sports amenities.

Čáslavský hrádek is located near Podměstský rybník and is now part of Vodranty Forest Park. The historic landmark is therefore also part of a landscape area with a forest park and pond.

Zámek Kačina is a château in the surroundings of Čáslav. Krkanka is a mountain in the surroundings of Čáslav. The wider regional surroundings also include the mountains Bučina, Hořánck and Ostojovka [Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř].
