Culture and history

The Church of St. Gall in Chocnějovice is a registered cultural monument. It includes a cemetery wall with a gate and an iron cross on a stone pedestal. Prehistoric finds have been discovered in the vicinity of the church.

The Church of St. Gall stands on the outskirts of Chocnějovice, on the edge of a hill, and was given a Baroque makeover in the 18th century. The mill in Chocnějovice is located on the Mohelka stream and was first mentioned as a manorial mill in 1603. It originally included a sawmill. A weir was reconstructed at the mill site, and the original turbine equipment was put into operation in February 2015.

Nature and trails

The Jizera, Mohelka, Pěnčínský potok, and Malá Mohelka rivers and streams flow through the municipality of Chocnějovice. There are also several unnamed, temporarily flowing waterways.

Cycle route 3044 runs from Chocnějovice via Kobyly and Sychrov toward Hodkovice nad Mohelkou and Dlouhý Most. The Žitavská route passes through Chocnějovice and by the early Gothic Church of St. Gall, a building dating from the end of the 13th century. The 149-kilometre pilgrimage and trade route runs from Zittau to Prague.

PID bus route 734 serves the Chocnějovice stop and runs along the Mnichovo Hradiště – Mohelnice nad Jizerou – Chocnějovice – Sezemice corridor.
