Sovínky: Hotels and accommodations

Sovínky is part of a historic, relatively regular system of rural settlements amid agricultural land. Marked cycle route No. 8158 leads through the area from Bezno towards Zamachy and onward towards Kokořínsko.

Nature

Forested and natural areas lie in the southern part of the cadastral territory of Sovínky. Hydrologically, Sovínky belongs to the catchment area of the Košátecký stream. The area lies within the protected zone for the natural recharge of groundwater known as Severočeská křída. West of Sovínky, there is an intermittent watercourse and a reservoir.

History

Sovínky was first documented in 1360. In 1654, Sovínky was granted the privilege of holding a weekly market and two annual fairs.

Sovínky Chateau with its church was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century from a building belonging to the farmyard next to a fortification that has since been demolished. The former fortification near Sovínky Chateau was demolished in 1975 and completely removed from the village landscape. Sovínky Chateau is visible from the main road leading through the village towards Velké Všelisy.

Culture and trails

The Syslov fortification is situated on a spur of land near Sovínky. At Syslov, a central area damaged by excavations and a broad neck ditch with a rampart have been preserved. Syslov can be reached from Sovínky by taking the road towards Boreč, then a turnoff and an ascent to the site; admission is free.

Footpaths used from Sovínky lead through the valley to the nearest places, Krušiny and Doubravička.
