Chýně: Hotels and Accommodations

Chýně combines a long local history with prominent traces of iron smelting. The first written mention dates back to 1273 and records Chýně as property of the Strahov Monastery. At the same time, the place is especially known for its iron-smelting furnaces.

History and Culture

The Premonstratensians owned Chýně almost continuously. Exceptions were brief periods during the Hussite Wars, after the Battle of White Mountain, and during communist nationalization. Another archaeological indication of the site's past was discovered in 2011: a Celtic semi-sunken settlement pit came to light in Chýně.

Events are also part of the public life of the town. Pohoda FEST Chýně began in 2016 with a concert on the shore of Strahovský rybník and subsequently developed into a full-fledged festival.

Nature and Landscape

The Litovický stream rises west of Chýně and flows through the Bašta pond within the cadastral area of Chýně. The landscape around the Litovický stream is the subject of intensive restoration and recultivation and invites visitors to enjoy pleasant walks.

Strahovský rybník combines natural and park-like elements. Its grounds were shaped by the construction of embankments and the development of surrounding areas, the planting of shrubs and trees, mowing, cleaning, and fish stocking. This was complemented by the creation of good living conditions for endangered animal species; the natural yet park-like character was thus intended to be preserved and further developed. The site's historical roots reach back to 1410.

Paths and Activities

Cesta Třetí skála was completed in 2024 as a 537-meter-long, surfaced farm track. It is intended primarily for pedestrians and cyclists and connects the paved road between Chýně and Hájek with an unpaved path from Bašta pond.

Sport fishing is possible at Strahovský rybník; it is non-commercial and is conducted predominantly according to the “catch and release” principle. The “Chýňská pětka” running competition also takes place there. Chýňská padesátka was an educational hiking event held repeatedly from the lowest to the highest point of the cadastral area of Chýně.

Getting Around Chýně

Bus routes 347 and 358 connect Chýně with Prague Metro Line B at Zličín station and Metro Line A at Motol station. Railway line 122 bypasses Chýně; the two stops, Chýně and Chýně-jih, opened in 2014.

Pivovarský Dvůr Chýně is accessible by car and public transport. The restaurant has its own parking lot for more than 20 passenger cars and can also accommodate a larger bus.
