Střehom: Hotels and Accommodation

Střehom is a village heritage zone dating back to the Middle Ages. Its historic character is reflected in protected farmsteads, timber buildings, and the distinctive water mill.

Culture

The farmsteads with house numbers 1, 3, 7, and 11 in Střehom are protected as cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. The village’s appearance is shaped by timber agricultural farmsteads with upper floors dating from the late 18th century. Of particular note is the complex of Střehom’s timber water mill, which dates from 1516. The mill has a functioning mill wheel and served as Petr Máchal’s mill in the fairy-tale film “S čerty nejsou žerty.”

Landscape

The boundary of the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area runs through Střehom. Surrounded by rocks, the romantic Plakánek Valley stretches from Střehom via the Obora pond to Kost Castle. The marked hiking trail through Plakánek Valley is exclusively for pedestrians.

Hiking Trails

A walk through Plakánek Valley from Kost Castle ends at the village of Střehom. From Kost Castle, this trail reaches Střehom via the red trail marking; from Vesec, the blue trail marking leads into the valley and joins the red route there. The route from Sobotka through Plakánek Valley to Kost Castle also passes through the heritage-protected village of Střehom, with its timber upper-storey houses.

Cycling Route

The Trosky–Kost–Malechovice cycling route passes through Střehom and lists the village as one of its stops. The 42 km route is described as moderately difficult.
