Culture and Townscape

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a Romanesque tribune church dating from the third quarter of the 12th century. Mill No. 3 is a log house in the town centre on the right bank of the Mohelka; its water-powered installation was installed in 1914.

At the former mill works No. 42, there is a clearly visible millrace, partly cut into the rock; the year 1901 is carved into a rock. The village also has a statue of Christ on an elaborately decorated pedestal dating from 1884. The vernacular architecture houses numbered 5, 6, 8 and 11 have preserved their original character to this day.

Bridges and River

A stone bridge over the Mohelka was built in 1926. The concrete arch bridge over the Jizera near Mohelnice was built in 1930–1931. A river trip on the Jizera can end at the bridge in Mohelnice nad Jizerou.

Hiking

The “Na vrch Káčov přes Zásadku a Mohelnici” hike is 14 km long, takes approximately 4 hours and has an elevation gain of 190 metres. It is considered a moderately difficult route with a steep ascent. The “Přes Zásadku do Mohelnice” tourist route ends in the municipality of Mohelnice nad Jizerou.

Nature

The distinctive, forested volcanic hill of Káčov lies in the regional surroundings of Mohelnice nad Jizerou. It is 350 metres high and offers views of Ještěd, Kozákov, Mužský and the Krkonoše Mountains.
