Dolní Slivno: Hotels and Accommodation

Dolní Slivno is located on the Slivenská vysočina upland, which forms part of the Dolnojizerská tabule. In and around the village, historical evidence combines with distinctive landscape features and a designated cycling route.

Landscape and History

In the vicinity of Dolní Slivno are the Na Černavě hill [Chotětov-Hřivno], the hill (Na Černavě NE) [Chotětov], and Slepeč hill [Benátky nad Jizerou-Obodř]. Chotětov hill [Chotětov] is located in the surroundings of Dolní Slivno.

The existence of the Slivínko fortress can be dated to the 14th century based on archaeological finds. The Slivínko fortress grounds have survived to this day as a small, densely overgrown island in a pond. They include a trapezoidal bank platform with traces of ditches and the remains of a rectangular cellar. A 120- to 150-year-old small-leaved lime tree also grows in Slivínko.

Culture

The current Empire-style appearance of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Dolní Slivno dates from 1807–1808. The Salač Column stands beside an old field road to Mečeříž. Anna and Jiří Salač had the six-metre-high column, crowned with an iron cross, erected in 1699.

The monument to Vincencie Tirschová stands in Sokol Park in Dolní Slivno. It commemorates the mother of Miroslav Tyrš, the founder of Sokol, and was ceremonially unveiled in 1934.

The Zámek Ostrov castle is located in the wider regional area around Dolní Slivno. The Church of U Svatého Vojtěcha is also located in this wider regional area.

Things to Do

The Svatováclavský běh takes place annually in Dolní Slivno. Cycling Route No. 8156 passes through Slivínko at kilometre 10 and reaches Dolní Slivno at kilometre 11.
