Drahobudice: Hotels and Accommodation

Drahobudice can be understood through two unusually specific traces: the village contains a significant archaeological site classified as ÚAN I, and at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Baroque architectural history, older tombstones and a preserved fresco come together.

Culture and History

The Drahobudice archaeological site is classified as a significant archaeological site in category ÚAN I. It is located directly in the village on a hill near the Church of the Holy Trinity, in the Na Valech area. It includes a ditch and indistinct remains of ramparts.

The Church of the Holy Trinity was built in 1753–1754 in the late Baroque style by I. J. Palliardi. It was built on the site of an older church of Gothic origin; several Renaissance tombstones from the earlier church are set into the former cemetery wall.

The ossuary of Drahobudice stands behind the presbytery on the eastern side of the Church of the Holy Trinity. It contains a preserved fresco from 1765 depicting Christ on the cross, as well as the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Evangelist.

Routes through Drahobudice

The 22-kilometre Vavřinecká dvacítka cycling loop passes through Drahobudice at kilometre 15 and starts and ends in Zásmuky. It follows footpaths, forest roads and paved roads.

In the section through Drahobudice, the Vavřinecká dvacítka takes a detour to the local church before continuing between fields on a flat section towards Bečváry.

Nature

The protected Lípa v Drahobudicích linden tree is 17 metres tall; its trunk circumference is 284 centimetres, while its crown is 14 metres high and 13 metres wide (2009 measurement). It is protected because of its exceptional growth, aesthetic value and function as a prominent landmark.
