Svatý Mikuláš can be explored through Kačina on two levels: in the rooms and exhibitions of the château as well as in the park and at its natural site.

Culture

The “13 Chotkovských komnat” tour presents the history and lifestyle of the Chotek family. “Za oponu zámeckého divadla” showcases one of the oldest surviving high-flying stages in Europe. The “Království včel” exhibition features a glazed, functioning beehive where visitors can observe the bees.

The “Zámecký skleník, bylinková zahrada a konírna” tour is a guided walk through the orangery, herb and vegetable garden, park and stables. The “Příběh dřeva” exhibition can be seen on the first floor of Kačina Château. The Museum of Czech Rural Life is housed in Kačina Château at Svatý Mikuláš 51.

Park and Nature

The Kačina château park is open year-round; admission is free. The Kačina château garden was laid out in the style of an English natural landscape park. Kačina Park is part of the Kačina natural monument.

Many rare insect species live at the Kačina site; for some of them, Kačina is the only confirmed location in Bohemia. Kačina is designated as a Site of Community Importance within the Natura 2000 network.

Activities

The orienteering course in the area of permanent checkpoints at NZM Kačina comprises 10 checkpoints and can be completed on an ongoing basis, on foot or by bicycle.
