Háje: Hotels and accommodations
Háje combines a documented settlement history with traces of uranium mining, rural architecture, and marked trails. The village name itself preserves the settlement’s origins in an ancient grove.
History
The settlement’s name was shortened to Háje in 1653. The earliest written records refer to the settlement in 1603 as “vsí novou na Hájích”; the same designation also appears in the oldest church register of Slivice from 1636.
Its more recent history includes former uranium mine shaft No. 16 Háje–Věž. In 1975, it was considered the deepest mine shaft in Czechoslovakia and, consequently, in the republic at that time.
Villagescape
The former school building in Háje dates from 1907. Individual cottages along Road II/118 and around the former school represent Háje’s original rural architectural style.
Hiking
Several marked trails pass through Háje or lead from Háje into the surrounding area. The Příbram–Svatá Hora–Háje–Smolotely hiking trail passes through Háje. The marked Příbram–Za Lukama–Háje–Kácíň–Horní Líšnice hiking trail also runs through Háje.
The marked Háje–Spálený–Velká Leč–Obory hiking trail begins in Háje and leads via Spálený and Velká Leč to Obory.
Landscape
The Háje geological locality is a flat, abandoned quarry measuring approximately 40 × 40 metres. It has a 2–3-metre-high wall and small surface outcrops.
At the site
A multi-purpose sports field has begun operating in Háje.
