Žerčice: Hotels and Accommodation

Žerčice is already documented for the year 1070 in the Chronicle of Cosmas. It mentions the consecration of a church at the new Žerčiněves estate. The history of the village is also reflected in ecclesiastical buildings, old municipal chronicles and traditional events.

Culture and History

The Baroque composer Samuel Capricornus was born in Žerčice on 21 December 1628. St. Nicholas Church has been documented as a parish church since 1384; at that time, it was still made of wood. Its present stone form was built in 1731, and the church was consecrated on 25 November.

The protected complex of St. Nicholas Church includes the church, the enclosure of the former cemetery with its gate, a cast-iron cross and a gravestone. The history and lives of the inhabitants of Žerčice are recorded in twelve municipal chronicles. One of them, created on 27 October 1748, was written on parchment in Schwabacher script and is considered the oldest in the Mladá Boleslav area.

Events

TJ Žerčice organizes a carnival procession every year. Since 2013, the Žerčice Volunteer Fire Brigade has organized the Memoriál Josefa Hůlky fire brigade sports competition.

Landscape and Archaeology

The hills of Telib (Březno u Mladé Boleslavi), Na Vinici (Březno u Mladé Boleslavi), U Křížku (Ctiměřice) and Křemenice (Lhotky u Mladé Boleslavi) are located in the vicinity of Žerčice.

The Žerčické mohyly archaeological site lies in a forest northwest of Žerčice. It consists of two large burial mounds dating from prehistoric or early medieval times. The Valdštejn Church is also located in the wider regional area around Žerčice.
