Hrušov: Hotels and accommodations

The Nad Čertůvkou fortified site is classified as a significant archaeological locality in category UAN I. Hrušov was first mentioned in writing in 1346.

Culture and history

The later fortress near the Hrušov manor house was built in the 14th century and received a new tower in 1501. The tower of the later Hrušov fortress was blown up and completely removed in 1959.

The burial ground of the Únětice culture is also designated as an archaeological site in Hrušov. It lies on a river terrace on the right bank of the Jizera and was archaeologically investigated in the 1950s. During the excavation of the burial ground, nine stone-lined inhumation graves were examined.

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk depicts the kneeling saint among stone clouds before a cross, which a small angel brings to him; a second angel emerges beside him. Its soft modelling and tranquil atmosphere are characteristic of late Baroque sculpture.

Landscape and historical traces

On a promontory above the Četůvka are the old ramparts and ditches of a small fortress.

In the fields, the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands about 2 kilometres from Hrušov, along the road connecting Hrušov and Horky nad Jizerou. It is located below a ridge offering views of the Kokořínsko region and Vrátenská hora mountain.

Trail and river landscape

The red-marked hiking trail “Svatojakubská cesta” runs through the Krnsko–Písková Lhota–Hrušov section.

Along the Jizera, Horky, Hrušov, Vinec and Mladá Boleslav are listed as places with bridges.
