Přepeře: Landscape, Cycling Route and Folk Architecture

Přepeře lies along the Přepeřský potok in a gently hilly landscape and in a depression. The hill near St. Isidor forms Přepeře’s natural landmark. There are small areas of woodland in the southern part of Přepeře’s cadastral area. The settlement thus connects the stream with gently undulating topography and a distinctive natural point of reference.

Historically, Přepeře was a small agricultural village belonging to the Kost estate. There was probably a fortress in Přepeře that later fell into disrepair and disappeared. The history of Přepeře can be traced back to 1323. The village’s rural past, the vanished fortress and its older historical record represent the site’s different layers of time.

The village of Střehom lies in the surroundings of Přepeře, at the end of the Plakánek Valley. Střehom is a village conservation area of medieval origin. The village expands the cultural context of the surrounding area with an independent historic site, without equating Střehom with Přepeře.

Přepeře can be reached from the busy II/268 road via III/2681 road. III/2681 ends in the centre of the village. The sequence of roads is therefore a specific part of local orientation when travelling there, while the location along the Přepeřský potok and the landscape determine the area’s character.
