Zdětín lies on a gentle hill on the edge of the Central Bohemian Plain.
Culture and History
The Gothic Church of All Saints (Všech Svatých) is listed as a cultural monument. The church is first mentioned in 1260. In the northern part of Zdětín, on the road to Chotětov, there is also an archaeological site dating from the Bronze Age.
The Church of St. Adalbert is located in the wider regional area around Zdětín.
Landscape
The immediate surroundings of Zdětín include the hill “(Na Černavě NE) [Chotětov]”, the hill “Na Černavě [Chotětov-Hřivno]”, the hill “Slepeč [Benátky nad Jizerou-Obodř]” and the hill “Chotětov [Chotětov]”.
Cycle Routes and Educational Trails
The “Benátky–Zdětín” inline skating and cycling route uses the former railway track of a disused industrial siding operated by Carborundum–Electrite. It is not physically demanding, has only gentle climbs and is also suitable for families with children.
The cycling tour “In the Footsteps of the History of Southern Mladá-Boleslavsko” begins at Zdětín u Chotětova railway station. On its return route to Benátky nad Jizerou, the “Through the Landscape of Rudolf II” educational trail passes through Zdětín and introduces Rudolf II through his interest in gardens, forests and hunting.
Transport
Zdětín has bus connections to Benátky nad Jizerou and Mladá Boleslav. Zdětín u Chotětova railway station, located 1.5 km from Zdětín, lies on the Prague–Turnov railway line.
