History and village character
A deed of gift for Županovice is dated February 12, 1235. Anežka, abbess of the Convent of the Poor Clares in Prague, retained Županovice for three years and subsequently bequeathed the village to the Order of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star at St. Francis in Prague. This order remained the landowner of Županovice until the abolition of serfdom in 1848.
The historic Županovice lock is also part of the village's history. It was 26.6 meters long and 4.7 meters wide. A pilgrimage mass was held in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit in Županovice.
Events
Pilgrimage masses were held in Županovice on May 24, 2015, May 28, 2023, and May 24, 2026. The Malý županovický železný muž triathlon takes place every year and is an amateur gathering for women, men, and relay teams of all ages and performance levels.
An Advent gathering was announced for Županovice for December 6, 2025; a third Advent gathering was also announced.
