Kněžice: Hotels and Accommodation

The Žlunice–Skochovice Site of Community Importance extends into the administrative territory of the municipality of Kněžice. The Natura 2000 site Žlunice–Skochovice, associated with Kněžice, consists of two elongated forest complexes in gently undulating terrain.

Nature and Landscape

The habitats recorded in the Natura 2000 site Žlunice–Skochovice include Eurosiberian steppe oak woods, oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association, and old acidophilous oak woods with pedunculate oak on sandy plains.

Osecký rybník is a 5-hectare sport fishing pond in the cadastral territory of Kněžice.

Culture and History

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is registered as an immovable cultural monument in the administrative territory of the municipality of Kněžice. It was rebuilt between 1774 and 1777 into its present late Baroque form, with a semicircular apse and a prismatic tower. The Diocese of Hradec Králové lists it in Kněžice u Městce Králové as the former parish church and present-day filial church of the Městec Králové parish. In 1359, the priest Jan Dobrohost from Turnov was appointed there.

The entire administrative territory of the municipality of Kněžice is registered as an area with documented archaeological heritage and archaeological finds. Beňovice is recorded as a vanished village with a fortified manor house and archaeological traces.

Activities

Sport fishing at Osecký rybník began in mid-2008. Local fishing regulations and permits apply. For that year, traditional children's competitions as well as 24-hour and 12-hour fishing competitions for adults were announced at the pond.

Cycle route No. 144 from Křinec via Nový Bydžov to Hrádek u Nechanic reaches Kněžice at kilometre 16.60.
