Knovíz: Hotels and Accommodation

In Knovíz, the history of the All Saints Church dates back to the 14th century. It houses a functioning historic organ from the end of the 19th century, which is still used during services today.

Culture and History

The Knovíz culture emerged in the Late Bronze Age as the legacy of the Tumulus culture. The eponymous archaeological site that gave this culture its name is a Category I archaeological area in Knovíz.

At the western edge of the municipality lies the Bronze Age archaeological settlement of Knovíz. It has no visible above-ground terrain features.

Knovíz is also home to Husova kazatelna, a rock formation. According to local legend, Jan Hus used it on his journey to Constance to preach to the inhabitants.

Events

The devil-themed event “S čerty jsou žerty” takes place annually in Knovíz and attracts several thousand visitors each year. The event creates a devilish setting in a forest near a rock formation. Visitors pass through a devilish entrance gate and enter a fairy-tale world with devils and characters from the well-known fairy-tale film “S čerty nejsou žerty”.

On June 27, 2026, the traditional Jízda do vrchu Knovíz–Olšany will take place in Knovíz. It is organized by Orion klub Slaný and attracts owners of historic cars and motorcycles as well as spectators every year. The tradition of the Knovíz–Olšany hill-climb race was revived in 1989 after a long interruption. The first hill-climb race took place in 1924; in 1925, the race had a national character.

U pěšinky [Hobšovice] is a hill in the vicinity of Knovíz. U Pískoven [Černuc-Nabdín] and Sedlička [Středokluky], both hills, are also located in the vicinity. Loustín is a mountain in the broader regional surroundings of Knovíz.

Zámek Ostrov, a chateau, is located in the broader regional surroundings of Knovíz. Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč is a museum there, Letohrádek královny Anny is a chateau, and Galerie Rudolfinum is a museum.
