Drnek: Hotels and Accommodation

Drnek was founded in 1726 by Count Adolf Bernard z Martinic next to a forester’s house built in 1711. The original settlement was laid out around a rectangular village square and comprised 13 cottages.

Culture and History

Humniště is classified as a significant archaeological site in Drnek. Svídna is considered an exemplary subject of archaeological research into medieval villages in Bohemia due to its well-preserved remains. The settlement consisted of 14 farmsteads with three-room houses built entirely of stone, outbuildings, gardens, and adjoining fields.

Landscape

The group “Duby u Martinic” comprises five English oaks (Quercus robur) in Drnek. Pozdeňský les Mountain [Mšec] is located in the vicinity of Drnek; Loustín Mountain is located in the surroundings of Drnek. In the wider regional area are the ruins of Pravda Castle, Tuchonín and Boušov Mountains, Ostrov Chateau, Hvězda Chateau, and the ruins of Hazmburk.

Events

The 31 km stage from Družec to Zichovec of the “Na kole dětem” event series passes through Drnek. The “Letní sousedské slavnosti” event was considered a family event and was suitable for children.
