Kosoř: Hotels and accommodations

Kosoř is located in the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. The Černé rokle National Nature Monument lies between Kosoř and Radotín and includes areas in the cadastral territory of Kosoř. It is of international geological and paleontological significance and contains a stratotype profile for the boundary between the Lochkovian and Pragian stages.

Nature

The Černé rokle National Nature Monument includes rock steppes, steppe grasslands, and abandoned quarries with remarkable flora, bryoflora, and mycoflora, as well as a species-rich insect fauna. The PR Klapice Nature Reserve is also located near Kosoř, a steep, forested spur with several abandoned quarry walls.

The PR Radotínské údolí Nature Reserve extends south to Kosoř and includes areas in the cadastral territory of Kosoř. It features internationally significant geology and several classic fossil sites.

The Doutnáč mountain and the Veslařský ostrov and Slovanský ostrov islands are located around Kosoř. The Klapice hill [Praha-Radotín] is also in the vicinity. The Kosoř–Černá rokle educational trail ends in Kosoř on Dolejší Street at a viewpoint overlooking Černá rokle.

Culture and history

The Chapel of Saint Anne in Kosoř is an immovable cultural monument that was added to a modernized chateau in 1722. The chapel contains two bells dating from 1723, one larger and one smaller. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk erected in Kosoř in October 1895 is registered as a national cultural monument.

Kosoř is indirectly documented for the first time in written historical sources around 1310. The place name appears in the epithet of the nobleman Valter of Kosoř, Walterus, miles de Cossor.

Karlštejn Castle, the Palác Kinských Palace, the Golz-Kinsky Palace, and the Letohrádek královny Anny château are located around Kosoř.
