Kosořice: Hotels and Accommodation

The Vlkava flows through the center of Kosořice. The municipality has landscaped green spaces at the Kosořický rybník dam and in its surroundings; there, near the municipality, is a beautiful setting for relaxation.

Culture

The chapel on the village square in Kosořice has a memorial plaque commemorating those who fell in the First World War and a bust of T. G. Masaryk. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the bridge over the Vlkava. It dates from 1794, is a listed monument, and was restored in 1949, 1997, and 2021. The statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary dates from 1883.

The cross on the bridge dates from 1867 and was erected by the residents of Kosořice after the 1866 war and a devastating cholera epidemic. The cross near Štěpánových was commissioned by the Štěpán family; their farmstead had stood there since the end of the 18th century. The farmstead later acquired a new Baroque appearance under Countess Eleonora von Valdštejna.

The remains of the former fortress had already disappeared by the 18th century. Today, it is believed that it stood at a farmyard near the Močický rybník.

The recurring Kosořice event “Pálení čarodějnic” takes place on the last day of April in the forest park at the sports field near the pond. As part of the event, a children’s lantern procession goes from the fire station to the large bonfire. The event includes traditional competitions for small children and roasting sausages.
