Mečeříž: Hotels and Accommodations

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Mečeříž is a protected monument. The present-day church was solemnly consecrated on June 20, 1913; the original church building has been documented since the 14th century and was originally built in the Gothic style.

Culture and History

In front of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross stands a winter lime tree approximately 200 years old, serving as a memorial tree. An iron cross on a stone pedestal dating from 1823 also stands in front of the church. The Mečeříž tower water tank presumably dates from around 1913 and has a capacity of 100 m³. Mečeříž was also home to a fortress or small castle complex, which presumably fell into ruin in the 16th century.

In the wider regional area around Mečeříž are Ostrov Castle, the Church of St. Adalbert, and the Prague Botanical Garden as a garden complex.

The Krajinou Rudolfa II educational trail has 17 information panels and runs through flat terrain. It is considered suitable for recreational cyclists, walkers, and families with children. From Mečeříž, there are bus connections to Benátky nad Jizerou, Mladá Boleslav, and Prague.
