The Sánský Canal is a historic waterway that has been preserved to this day. The waterway later known as Sánský kanál was built around 1450 by Jiří z Kunštátu.
Culture and Local History
A historic chapel stands in the village square of Křečkov. It is one of the village's cultural monuments and was completely reconstructed in 2001. In the past, it was occasionally used for religious purposes and for ringing in the event of a death. In the centre of Křečkov, there is also a monument to the fallen, standing among lime trees.
Landscape and Activities
Křečkov's proximity to the Elbe offers opportunities for cycling, inline skating, walking and fishing. The Na Spraši hill (Poděbrady-Velké Zboží) is located nearby, and the U Borku mountain (Záhornice u Městce Králové) is also in the vicinity of Křečkov.
In the wider regional surroundings of Křečkov are Hořánck Hill, Horky Hill and Kačina Castle. On the Sánský Canal, the section from Pátek to below Křečkov is heavily overgrown; below Křečkov, conditions for navigation gradually improve.
