Krty: Hotels and Accommodation
Krty has a characteristic Slavic circular village layout (Okrouhlice). Granite quarrying near Krty has ended; today, the area is protected as the Krtské skály Nature Monument and lies in the forest south of Krty.
Nature and Trails
Just beyond Krty lies Čertův kámen, in the immediate vicinity of the blue-marked hiking trail towards Krtské skály. A sign points it out at the junction; the stone is in the forest about 100 metres to the left of the main trail.
Tourist Route 1020 runs from U můstku via Krty and Krty railway station to the Krtské skály junction. In the municipal forest southeast of Krty lies Trpasličí díra, a cavity that still exists today and can only be reached by crawling on one's stomach.
Culture and History
At the northern edge of Krty's rectangular village square stands the originally early Baroque Church of Saint Vojtěch. It was built in 1682, remodelled in 1737 and renovated in 1931.
The Church of Saint Vojtěch has a single-nave floor plan with a semicircular presbytery. The nave is covered by a barrel vault, while the sacristy has a flat ceiling.
Krty was first mentioned in 1227; at that time, the settlement belonged to Rabštejn Castle. The J. Pokornyho granite quarry was founded in 1872 and was probably the oldest and largest of these operations in the then Podbořany political district. Between 1898 and 1900, the quarry employed up to 100 workers.
