Lišany: Hotels and Accommodation

In Lišany, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a Baroque building constructed on the foundations of an older Gothic church. The main altar features a painting of the Assumption of Mary by Josef Hueber from 1763.

Culture

The local history also includes the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which is protected as a cultural monument, and the historic primary school building, a Neo-Renaissance structure from 1884. Antonín Pelc is also associated with Lišany: the academic painter, illustrator and political caricaturist, who exhibited in Europe, the United States and Latin America, was born in Lišany on 16 January 1895.

History

A royal court in Lišany is documented for the year 1252. In 1252, King Václav issued a document in Lišany for the Vyšehrad Chapter.

Further historical evidence can be found in the immediate surroundings of the village. The Podhůrka Mill, also called Zákonův mlýn, lies near an old trade route and was first mentioned in 1521. The V Brůdku Viaduct is part of the Buštěhrad Railway, which was built between 1870 and 1883. An old wooden shepherd's hut has been preserved in Ovčín. The Bílý Bridge over the Lišanský stream at the entrance to Lišany from the direction of Rakovník dates from 1924 and is described as an architecturally interesting structure.

Nature

The Pod rybníčky natural forest park includes a reedbed habitat and an open meadow.

Cycle Route 8168 runs through Lišany between Lužná u Rakovníka and Kněževes.

Events

The 13th edition of the New Year's hiking event “Novoroční šlapka” was scheduled to take place in Lišany on 10 January 2026, with registration at the Sokol hall.
