Ledce: Hotels and Accommodation
Ledce is located in the Džbán Nature Park, which was designated in 1994 and covers an area of 416 km². The area is predominantly hilly and rises into uplands in places. In Ledce and the settlement of Šternberk, natural landscapes, local history and specific cultural sites come together.
Culture and History
The Malé asijské muzeum has been active in Ledce since 2005. On 8 December 2012, the memorial room of the municipality of Ledce and the former spas of Šternberk was opened there. It documents the history and life of the municipality from the earliest times to the present day on 15 large panels, several smaller panels and in display cases containing photographs, newspaper clippings, documents and objects. The museum also includes a library with predominantly Czech literature about Asia, as well as regional literature from the Slánsko region.
In front of the museum building, visitors can also see the interior of a traditional Mongolian yurt. However, the history of the present-day municipal area goes back much further: archaeological finds provide evidence of prehistoric settlement. The site of the former Šternberk fortress in Ledce is classified as a Category ÚAN I archaeological site.
The former Ledce fortress stood at the Dvořiště site between Ledce and the settlement of Šternberk. Šternberk has been part of the municipality of Ledce for several centuries. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Martinic family founded a spa there after investigating the springs; a representative colonnade was also built at one of the springs in the settlement.
Nature
The surroundings of the former spa buildings of Šternberk partly extend into the Džbán Nature Park and the Smečno Natural Monument. They are considered a pleasant place for a walk. The Smečno Natural Monument protects the critically endangered hermit beetle (Osmoderma barnabita); its presence was recently recorded in old hollow trees in the château park and the adjacent avenue.
