History and Local Character
The Lošany Fortress is a 16.5-metre-high square stone tower. It probably dates from the second half of the 14th century and is currently privately owned.
The Neo-Gothic Church of St. George in Lošany was built in 1895–1896 by the architect Ludvík Lábler and consecrated on 16 July 1896.
Outside Lošany in the direction of Kolín stands Boží muka Kolovrat, a Baroque wayside shrine dating from the end of the 18th century. In the direction of Polní Voděrady, outside Lošany, there is also Boží muka P. Marie, a Baroque wayside shrine from the 18th century.
Remembrance and History
There are two mass graves of fallen soldiers in the vicinity of the church in Lošany. The Battle of Kolín took place near Lošany in 1757. During this battle, fought near Lošany, a field hospital was established in Lošany.
The exhibition at the Memorial of the Three Resistances explores the history of the Mašín family and the history of three Czechoslovak resistance movements.
Landscape and Cycle Route
Lošany and Lošánky lie on opposite gentle slopes connected by a pond through which the Pekelský stream flows.
The 41-kilometre cycling trip “A Cycle Trip to the Elbe Viewpoints and through the Polepka Valley” follows a route through Lošany.
