Starý Kolín combines local history with the landscape and a clearly structured surrounding area. The most important points of interest are reflected in specific cultural sites, information boards, and trails.

History and Culture

The Church of St. Andrew was consecrated on 30 November 1267; this event is also the first written mention of Starý Kolín. A tour of the church grounds can be arranged in advance. Cultural sites associated with the history of Starý Kolín also include the former Baštecký Mill with its hydroelectric power plant. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity is listed as an immovable cultural monument.

A series of eight information boards about the history of the municipality has been installed in Starý Kolín. The Celtic coin hoard from Starý Kolín consisted of 197 staters and 107 third-staters. A board at a bicycle rest area by the road bridge over the Klejnárka provides information about this find.

Nature and Trails

Wild garlic is widespread in the Baštecký Forest on the Elbe. The “V Souškách” educational trail route runs through this forest and its surroundings and was opened on 5 September 2021. It includes five information boards, its own tourist trail markings, and a turnoff to an old oak avenue near the Elbe.

The nearby surroundings of Starý Kolín include Kačina Chateau, (Diviška) [Konárovice], (Konárovický vrch) [Konárovice], and Kaňk. Kačina Chateau is a castle; Diviška, Konárovický vrch, and Kaňk are three hills. Hořánck, a mountain, is also located in the surroundings of Starý Kolín. In the wider regional area lies Svatý Jiří, a church.
