Ždánice’s local heritage is reflected in cultural monuments, landscapes and historic routes.

Culture and History

Hradiště Na Hradišťatech is a valuable archaeological site and a locality that dominates the surrounding terrain. It is situated on a prominent spur between Oleška and Ždánice. It is registered as a cultural monument under ÚSKP number 33563/2-909.

Panák is the local name for the hill with the monument above the municipality of Ždánice.

The Church of St. Gall is registered in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under number 17915/2–888. It stands west of Ždánice in the elevated area known as “Na Poušti”.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is a niche chapel from the mid-18th century and is marked on maps from the First Military Survey of 1764–1767. It stands on the northwestern edge of Ždánice at a crossroads below the Church of St. Gall.

Historic Routes and Landscapes

Čertova brázda connects the birthplace of Saint Procopius with Sázava Monastery and is associated with a legend about Saint Procopius. During the Baroque period, it served as a pilgrimage route between Sázava Monastery and Chotouň, the birthplace of Saint Procopius.

Čertova brázda is a clearly recognizable, 21-kilometre-long system of hollows, ditches and sunken lanes between Sázava and Chotouň.

Activities and Events

The section of the Středočeská ovocná stezka near Ždánice has five stops with interactive information panels and is aimed at children, families and schools.

An accompanying programme for the whole family was planned for the first edition of the extreme cross-country race KILÁK NA PANÁK. The extreme cross-country race KILÁK NA PANÁK was planned for 6 September 2025 above the municipality of Ždánice in the Kolín District.
