Loukovec is situated on a ridge extending from Svijany to the right bank of the Jizera.

Culture

The former Gothic fortress in Loukovec was converted into a Renaissance residence around 1600; the residence that emerged from the former Gothic fortress was remodelled in the Baroque style at the end of the 17th century.

Access to the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Loukovec is possible by prior arrangement. Its wooden main altar bears life-size statues of Saint Adalbert and Saint Procopius.

The name of the Hradec farmstead also refers to the past: it indicates that a fortified settlement once stood there.

In Hubálov, the Urbanglass workshop offers guided tours with production demonstrations and workshops for making your own glass. The Urbanglass family gallery at Hubálov 21, Loukovec, presents glass displays and live glassmaking demonstrations year-round; guided tours are available by prior arrangement. The glass studio of Karel and Eva Urban in Hubálov produces nativity figures, classic table figures, souvenirs, gifts, specially blown figures and glass beads.

Nature

The JIZERA 6 fishing district begins at the weir of the Hubálov hydroelectric power plant in the cadastral area of Loukovec. The Hubálovské ponds in the cadastral area of Loukovec cover 0.6 ha.

According to the timetable for the period from 15 September to 15 November 2025, regional bus route 733 connected Turnov with Mnichovo Hradiště, serving Loukovec and the Loukovec, Hubálov stop.
