Mezouň combines local history, a ceramic tradition and routes in the surrounding area with a range of destinations in the wider region.

Culture and History

The protected immovable cultural monument in Mezouň comprises the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, built in 1818 and preserved to this day, as well as the barn with a gate belonging to Farmstead No. 3.

The first temporary ceramic workshop in Mezouň was established by František Žáček and Josef Votava in 1887 in House No. 52 (Na Špejchaře). The refractory clays from Mezouň became a sought-after raw material for the production of ceramic stoneware and small general merchandise.

The rural farm complex Nos. 3 and 41 is located at the southeastern corner of the large, approximately trapezoidal village green with rounded corners in Mezouň.

Routes and Surroundings

The historic path between Tachlovice and Mezouň has been restored. Today, people from nearby Prague relax at the site of the old cemetery.

Events

Every year, Mezouňský zavírák offers an evening of beat, rock and metal music, or a mixture of these genres, and also includes a theatrical performance.

Nature and Regional Destinations

Karlštejn Castle and Mount Doutnáč are located near Mezouň. In the immediate vicinity are the hill “Hačka [Mezouň] outlook p.” and the hill “Blýskava [Chrustenice].” Further afield in the wider region are the Letohrádek královny Anny, the Rudolfinum Gallery Museum, the Palác Kinských palace and Veslařský ostrov island.
