Milčice: Hotels and accommodations

Milčická náves has always been the center of village life and continues to preserve remarkable historic objects. The most significant site is the farmhouse of the scribe František Jan Vavák. Vavák was the local village judge, chronicler, and an important folk writer. Milčice is also stop 8 of the regional project “Tajuplná místa Podlipanska”; the information board introduces František Jan Vavák and a local legend.

Culture and history

The Milčice exhibition is a permanent exhibition about Milčice in the former “Hall of Traditions.” It is open to the public every year on May 8; visits at other times must be arranged in advance with the Milčice Municipal Office and the curator, Eva Vyhlídalová.

On March 20, 2025, MŠ Milčice organized the “Vynášení Morany” event for the public. The procession ended with the traditional burning of Morana at a fire by the pond.

Paths and village character

Milčice lies on the Cesta Česka pilgrimage route. The 750-meter-long Milčice–Tatce cycle path runs from the municipal football field to Tatce railway station and has three rest areas with tables, benches, bicycle racks, and waste bins.

Javorová alej has benches, waste bins, a bicycle rack, and an information board about funding for its restoration and the nearby Natura 2000 site.

Nature

The protected “Památná hrušeň,” a European pear (Pyrus communis L.), was planted around 1900 on the outskirts of Milčice along the road to Pečky.

Behind the large Milčice pond, two smaller, elongated ponds were created after 1985 in former peat extraction pits. Their flooding created refuges for rare animal and plant species.

The “Havlíčkova lípa” was designated a memorial tree on November 4, 1999; a memorial stone stands beside it.
