Tuřice: Hotels and Accommodations

The history of Tuřice dates back to the Middle Ages: a fortress stood near the settlement; it is documented as early as 1194 through Zbraslav of Tuřice (“Zbraslaus de Turic”). In the 1469 inheritance register, the fortress is already mentioned as abandoned. Its former location was in the area known as “Na poustkách” and was ultimately destroyed during the construction of the motorway toward Prague.

Culture

The traditional Easter procession with rattles is part of the local tradition. It replaces the ringing of church bells and uses wooden rattling instruments, including mobile rattle carts. The road bridge from Tuřice across the Jizera also has its own history: it was built in 1924. In the immediate vicinity of Tuřice and Sobětuchy, a Baroque hunting monument to Charles VI stands in Hlavenec; it was erected by Count Špork in 1725.

On the Way

The Greenway Jizera runs along the Jizera and is suitable for cyclists, walkers, and families. A cycle path from Prague toward Liberec also passes through the picturesque landscape and Tuřice.

Water

The section of the Jizera near Tuřice is navigable by canoe and kayak almost all year round. The lower Jizera section is also suitable for trips with children. There is a parking lot on the right bank of the Jizera near the Tuřice bridge; above the bridge, there is a meadow that can be used as a starting area for a river trip. The lower Jizera has a sandy riverbed, playful rapids, and green banks.
