Nalžovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Nalžovice is home to the freestanding Baroque Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows. After a fire in the 19th century, it was altered; it stands on the northern side of the central castle park. The present form of Nalžovice’s Baroque château dates from 1750 to 1760. The château complex includes a large park in a shallow valley, enclosed by a stone perimeter wall. The château is currently used as a social care facility for girls with intellectual disabilities.

The local architectural heritage also includes the Church of Saint Wenceslas, which can be reached from the adjacent village square via a striking Baroque staircase decorated with statues, as well as the Slavic hillfort site “Na Hradě”. A cross rampart that separated the inner fortification from the outer bailey, the recognizable structure of a gate, and further traces of fortifications on the slopes have been preserved there. The Boží muka wayside shrine in Nalžovice is a brick pillar shrine with a small chapel at the top, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century.

The rectory in Nalžovice is a Renaissance building that was remodeled in the Baroque period. The rectory grounds include a large landscaped courtyard, a barn, and a perimeter wall with separate gates for vehicles and pedestrians. In Chlum, the Church of Saint Wenceslas acquired its present appearance during renovations in 1790. The Church of Saint Wenceslas and its cemetery can be accessed from the south and west via local roads.

The Drbákov–Albertovy skály National Nature Reserve lies in the cadastral area of Nalžovice, on the right side of the central Vltava Canyon between the Oboz and Častoboř recreation centers. The reserve protects rocky slopes in the Vltava Valley with natural forests where European yew grows, as well as rock steppes with rare and endangered species.

For nature conservation and visitor safety reasons, access to the steep slopes is permitted only along the marked educational trail. The Drbákov–Albertovy skály educational trail is a circular route with 11 stops, as well as information boards and viewpoints overlooking the Vltava Valley.

The 20-kilometer cycling route 8132 runs from Vojkov to Křepenice via Chlum and Nalžovice. The OBOZ campsite for tents and caravans is located in the municipality of Nalžovice.
